Several detainees serving their sentences at the Durrës Penitentiary Institution were transferred to Fier and other Penitentiary Institutions this evening.
It is learned that the relocations are being carried out under strict security measures, while the detainees are those accused of serious crimes.
So far, the reasons for this move are still unknown, but this comes just a few hours after the dismissal of the director of this penitentiary, following the escape of Altin Doc.
This move comes after the Minister of Justice, Besfort Lamallari, has requested a new plan for the security assessment and redistribution based on the dangerousness of convicts and detainees at the Durrës Penitentiary Institution.
The Minister today asked the Prisons to also consider transferring those convicted of serious criminal offenses to other high-security prisons.
