The European Parliament has sounded the alarm about the emptying of Albania. The Stabilization-Association Council was held yesterday and the focus was on the SP-PD reports, but the MEPs have presented some amendments to the resolution that was approved at the end of the meeting.
The most active was the French MEP, Dominique Bilde, who demanded accountability for several issues, the most important of which is the emptying of Albania. She has supported the changes in the law to stop the departure of medical students, as she sees the departure of the "brain" with concern.
" The EP welcomes Albania's recent legislative efforts to curb mass emigration of qualified medical workers, given that according to 2020 data, Albania has "the lowest number of doctors and nurses per capita in Europe" and expresses concern about the impact of academic mobility on the "brain drain" from Albania ", the resolution states.
Furthermore, the resolution emphasizes that since 1991, 1.4 million citizens have fled Albania. According to her, half of the Albanians want to leave.

The EP also demands an account of the pact with the US to house Afghans. It is requested that details be provided if there are still immigrants remaining in the country or if they have left.
