EP gives the alarm: Half of the Albanians want to leave, the country risks being

The EP notes with concern the extent of mass migration from Albania, with "at least 1.4 million people having left since the end of communism in 1991"...

The European Parliament has sounded the alarm about the emptying of Albania. The Stabilization-Association Council was held yesterday and the focus was on the SP-PD reports, but the MEPs have presented some amendments to the resolution that was approved at the end of the meeting.

The most active was the French MEP, Dominique Bilde, who demanded accountability for several issues, the most important of which is the emptying of Albania. She has supported the changes in the law to stop the departure of medical students, as she sees the departure of the "brain" with concern.

" The EP welcomes Albania's recent legislative efforts to curb mass emigration of qualified medical workers, given that according to 2020 data, Albania has "the lowest number of doctors and nurses per capita in Europe" and expresses concern about the impact of academic mobility on the "brain drain" from Albania ", the resolution states.

Furthermore, the resolution emphasizes that since 1991, 1.4 million citizens have fled Albania. According to her, half of the Albanians want to leave.

The EP notes with concern the scale of mass migration from Albania, with "at least 1.4 million people having left since the end of communism in 1991" and seeing how "of the current population of 2.7 million, at least half want to leave to Europe, the USA or Canada" and expresses further concern regarding the impact of the visa liberalization agreement with the European Union, which has led to the irregular migration of Albanian citizens to France ", the amendment states.

The EP also demands an account of the pact with the US to house Afghans. It is requested that details be provided if there are still immigrants remaining in the country or if they have left.

" We recall that in August 2021, the Albanian Prime Minister stated that Albania was ready to accept between 2,000 and 3,000 Afghan citizens until they received an American visa and calls for clarity regarding the number of Afghan citizens who are currently in the territory Albanian as part of this cooperative effort with the United States, as well as for any denial of entry granted by the United States to any of the aforementioned Afghan nationals and the reasons therefor ," the resolution states. / Pamphlet
