The sniper murder of Gëzim Sinomat in Vlora on the evening of January 7, is still without a perpetrator.
Security expert Fatjon Softa has spoken about the execution of the 22-year-old who said that there are two reliable lines of investigation, the first is related to the victim's connections in Belgium, and the second may be for revenge.
"It is not the first case of using snipers, it is the third or fourth case. It is the first case where with one shot the target is eliminated. At that moment there was a blackout in the area. There are two reliable tracks, one includes with his connections in Belgium, since he had been back for a few days, and it could also be old wounds like the revenges in '97. The eliminated person's father was part of the Gaxhai group. It could be a possible lead revenge. The victim's uncle was given tritol 2 years ago," said Softa for "Report TV".
The security expert also raised the concern of introducing these weapons into our country. Softa stated that these weapons are imported from the Port of Durrës.
"They can come in or in parts and get married here. One possibility is the port of Durrës. Where we have a ban on a captured sniper, coming from Kosovo and Serbia, and explosives coming from these countries, Kosovo or Serbia. Internal resources are also a possibility", said Softa.
As for contract killers and professional shooters, Softa said that alternatives could be from former military structures or police officers. The expert also touched on the issue of their preparation in different polygons in the country. According to Softa, every citizen over the age of 18 can go to the shooting range, but according to him, not everyone can be allowed to go to the shooting range and encourage young people to perfect shooting.
"The alternative could be from former military structures or police officers. They know the martial art of leaving without leaving a trace. These are the elite part and are a formidable contingent, the moment they are recruited or become part of criminal groups. Scary is where they are prepared through polygons. People can go to Albania only if they are over 18 years old. And without any motive! Not everyone can go to Italy! Either you have to be a private guard, or the municipal police or the police forces that are allowed by law, the rest can't go and encourage young people to perfect their shooting" , he concluded.
