The floods recorded in Kurbin during the months of November and January brought back into focus the condition and efficiency of the drainage system in this area.

Agriculture and Drainage Specialist, Gjergj Çuli, states that the Adriatic dam has been working normally, but does not have sufficient capacity to handle large amounts of water when rainfall is very intense and concentrated in a short time.

According to Çuli, to avoid similar situations in the future, the installation of new pumps with higher capacity is needed, as well as continuous control of scarp and drainage channels, to prevent them from being blocked by waste.

The municipality of Kurbin was one of the areas most affected by the bad weather in early January. The flood waters inundated about 2,500 hectares of agricultural land and about 250 homes, causing significant damage, mainly in the Mamurras and Fushë-Kuqe Administrative Units.
