At Sunday mass in Shkodra, parish priest Dom Vlash Palaj took a tough stance regarding the recent actions to demolish illegal constructions in the Theth area.
He criticized the behavior of the authorities, accusing them of deception and abandonment of the residents of the area.
In his speech, Palaj called on institutions and citizens to reflect deeply on how they treat each other, especially in small communities, where trust and solidarity are vital. Parishioner Palaj also said that the government lied to, exploited, and destroyed the poor citizens.
"A big conflict there in Theth, I feel very sorry for those poor people because they seduced them, lied to them, bought them, exploited them, exploited them financially and in the end they threw them away, betrayed them, burned them, destroyed them, they will fine them and imprison them. Faik Konica says a word that should make us reflect. The greatest evil of Albania is the Albanians. But which Albanians? Those who have not yet learned the words of life. Christ says: If you want to solve the problem with your brother, with your neighbor, be part of a nation. Albania is a small village compared to other countries.
Take your brother forward, sit down with him, don't condition your dialogue on time. Try to convince him of what is good and true. But, it may happen that he doesn't listen. Then, please, don't condemn him, don't judge him or prejudge him, because you are not the Lord of his life. Call 2-3 witnesses, even in their presence, tell him once more. And if he doesn't listen to them either, and still doesn't listen, still don't give up. Invite the whole community. Sit down together. Discuss how this person's problem can be solved. It may happen that he doesn't listen to them either. Then, when you have made the third attempt and have informed everyone, when he doesn't understand, let him go - separate him, he says. Because he doesn't want the good. But, in that reality of that mountain village, what do we notice? Are we saying that we are enemies of each other. Believe me, dear Christians, and I invite you to think seriously about this matter.
Because our people unfortunately continue to be filled with hostility, hatred, and a pronounced spiritual poverty, then you do not take into account that you are destroying the life of that other person, even though that other person may have lived and acted in a wrong way. But, never claim to be the Lord of another. Seek to convince each other and find a solution, which is for the good of all. There is no law over everything," he said.
Dom Vlash Palaj emphasized that relationships between people are not resolved with punishments, but with understanding and dialogue.
"The law is above all things, when we have violated our humanity and have violated that Divine presence, which has adorned human life to find a more peaceful and dialogical solution between brothers. We must always know how to understand each other, because the relationship of brotherhood is not resolved with judgments and punishments. But those who are slaves to life, slaves to its behaviors, do not take into account that the life of another is being destroyed. May God willing that those cultural, historical, human conditions will also mature and that we will be elevated somewhat in our conscience. Otherwise, we will never have peace.
Just as many people have lost their lives, we have many, many bad memories of the foam, because they were killed for a piece of land, for a line of water, and today they were killed for a few wooden cabins, which, contain and express a sacrifice of a people, who historically have suffered and want to be able to live and see for themselves that they are somehow secure in that dignity of their lives. But here, there is still a lot of evil and they do not know how to agree on good.
May God enlighten the minds of everyone and everyone to rise to that dignity of being human beings of the expression of humanity, because we are all children of the same Father, who makes them brothers and sisters among us. Without forgetting that we must welcome immigrants, I wish you peaceful days, full of spiritual blessings, peace and mental freedom, but also with physical rest. Because vacations should be integral, that is, all aspects of human life. Unfortunately, I advise you not to go to Theth, because there you lose your mental and spiritual peace, and as a result, you will not find physical peace. It is not your fault. The fault, of course, is of those who are more inclined to do evil and destroy than to build. "Be careful, because those who are the most unjust do their best to be violent to impose their justice on others ," he said.
