The United States of America has decided to take a global action against corruption. For them, corruption is a threat to national security, and for this reason, they have launched massive sanctions and are assisting partner countries to punish names involved in affairs.
Two days ago, "Pamphlet" published a plan drawn up by DASH, which focuses on the implementation of the anti-corruption strategy approved two years ago by President Biden. In the strategy, it was required to engage the intelligence services to declare the corrupt "non grata". But it seems the smart service won't be alone.
In this strategy, embassies are instructed to take measures by identifying the corrupt and assisting local institutions to punish them. In the meantime, it is suggested that FBI agents be assigned to diplomatic headquarters, who will apparently draw up "black lists" of officials who will be declared undesirable. Agents will also help punish the corrupt.
“ Provide guidance to embassies to conduct corruption analysis, diagnosis and use of data for program design and diplomatic reporting. Work with the Department of Justice to deploy advisors (eg, FBI agents, judicial attaches, or resident legal counsel) to U.S. embassies to enhance counterpart capabilities to effectively investigate, prosecute, and adjudicate complex, international and national anti-corruption cases, especially those involving bribery or money laundering ," it says.
On the other hand, it is required that measures be taken in order to financially sanction all those who are involved in affairs.
“ In partnership with the Treasury, strengthen the use of sanctions against the corrupt. Determine the list of countries of interest to the US, to increase focus and diplomatic commitment to fight corruption in these countries ", it is further stated.
Looking carefully at the new American plan, it seems that there will be a large number of "non gratas", but also massive visa blocks. In addition to the decisions made by DASH, embassies can block visas for persons they have on the blacklist.
