Interior Minister Taulant Balla says that 10% of communications on coded phones, such as Sky ECC and Encro Chat, are in the Albanian language.
Invited to the "Opinion" show, Balla explained how these applications were "dismantled", which in Albania have revealed many criminal events. But he also spoke about the police's ties to gangs, proposing another veitng, although the one in force has successfully failed.
" We must clarify that the Special Prosecutor's Office deserves a thank you for the work it has done. It is a voluminous work. I have often heard these two applications discussed. The credit actually goes to the French police. At that moment, this concern began to arise and a special structure was created between the French police, the Dutch police and then the Belgian police, who together began to investigate. Then Europol and Eurojust got involved. There is a certain percentage of communications in the Albanian language. 10% of communications are in the Albanian language. What is important and the challenge we face, is the part related to making all communications there part of other investigations. There are many important clues there. If you look at the communications that are there in the case of the file in question, these must be matched with other events. I think we are on the right path to a radical cleansing of the criminal world in Albania".
Many Albanian police officers have turned out to be involved in criminal events, after it was discovered that they communicated on the Sky ECC application and others like it. Regarding this issue, Balla declares that all Albanian police officers will have to fill out a form to declare if they had such a device.
"From Monday, with the assumption of duty by the new head of the AMP, one of the image purity forms that all police officers must fill out, where they declare whether they have simply had access to or have owned such a phone . I don't believe that a police officer should have access or own… This has been a discussion that I've had to consult with senior Interpol leaders because it's gotten a lot of attention, and I'll give you the media credit. , because I think the same as you, I can't find the reason why a police officer should have such a device ", said Interior Minister Taulant Balla.
