Police officer Novruz Cenaila, who was killed with a bullet in the head while going to get the service, will be escorted to his final residence today.
The 28-year-old had only been married for a month, but he was killed after an argument with 23-year-old Azgan Mërnica about the turn to pass on the narrow road of Baltëz village in Fier.
At 10:00 a.m., tributes will be held in the Fier City Cinema in commemoration of the 28-year-old policeman. The members of the Security Committee are also expected to join the tributes.
The perpetrator of the murder, Azgan Mërnica, is still on the run. The police have continued with the search, but so far without results. Yesterday evening, the checks were also extended to Tepelena and Gjirokastër. It is suspected that he intends to cross the border with Greece. Mërnica is considered dangerous, as he is suspected of carrying a crime weapon.
The 23-year-old comes from a family with a long history of involvement in criminal events. According to her, his father served a 20-year prison sentence for killing his brother-in-law. One of the brothers is currently in prison, sentenced to 19 years of imprisonment for a murder that occurred in 2019. The other brother is also serving a prison sentence in Germany. In his case, it remains unclear what he was convicted of.
