The former director of the State Police, Shemsi Prençi, said that the deceased member of the "Eagles" in Fier, Novruz Cenaliaj, should have acted faster and killed the 23-year-old perpetrator, Azgan Mërnica.
Prençi made the comments on the show "Now with Erla Mëhillin" on Euronews Albania, where he said that there is an unwritten law that says 'it is better for the mother of a criminal to cry than the mother of a policeman'.
He also said that he would rather the police officer kill the perpetrator and agree to serve a few years in prison than let him take his life.
" The deceased should have acted faster and killed him. When he saw that he took out the gun, when he saw that he put his hand there, he must have known that that kind of race, that kind of tribe, that kind of man will kill you. In this case, as the law says, let him agree to serve a few years in prison like his father.
The event is very serious, but if we analyze it, the police are trained for this job and the police hesitate to use weapons.
Sometimes it should be used in conditions of extreme protection, but also in conditions of necessary protection weapons. It is an unwritten law that says it is better for the mother of a criminal to cry than the mother of a policeman ", said Prençi.
