The Greek Minister of Citizen Protection, Yannis Oikonomou, met with Fredi Beleri, who is in custody in Durrës.
It is known that he entered the interior of the prison of Durrës, where he met with the elected mayor of the Municipality of Himara.
The visit of the interior minister comes after the court decided the day before to start the trial in charge of Fredi Beleri.
Oikonomou arrived a day ago, in Tirana for the Ministerial of Interior Ministers, within the Berlin Process.
The arrest of Fredi Beleri on May 12 on the charge of election corruption and his detention has brought a diplomatic clash in the relations between Tirana and Athens.
The winner of the elections for the Himar Municipality, has made 2 requests for a special permit to enable him to take the oath as mayor, but the prisons have rejected him. While in the Supreme Court, Beleri has made 2 appeals to declare illegal the arrest and wiretapping of the prosecution.
