The institution's team went to hospitals and police stations to closely monitor the condition of detained or injured protesters. According to preliminary data, the police detained at least 12 adults, while four minors were released after questioning.
At the Trauma Hospital, representatives of the Ombudsman received a complaint from a protester, who stated that the police had used violence against him. An investigation has been launched into this case.
The institution announced that it will publish the full report after the completion of the administrative investigation.
In his statement, the Ombudsman emphasized that he only supports peaceful gatherings and asked the law enforcement agencies to act with restraint and professionalism, despite the situations created during the protest.
The institution also emphasized the need for transparency on the protocols that the police implement for the escalation of force and the use of crowd dispersal tools, including tear gas and water.
