Long lines of vehicles have formed at the Kapshtica border crossing due to delays in crossing procedures from the Greek side.
This border crossing between Albania and Greece is one of the busiest. High flows are usually recorded during the summer season, but this time the delays are related to slow processing on the Greek side.
According to the travelers, the Albanian side is carrying out the procedures normally. The problem occurs on the Greek side, where the wait varies from one to two hours. They say this situation has been going on for a long time.
Travelers also report that the Greek side is giving priority to its citizens, while Albanian citizens and foreigners are left waiting longer.
According to them, the delays are also related to the new entry-exit system in the European Union, which has been in effect for three months. This system does not provide fast procedures for Albanian and foreign citizens, while the crossing is easier only for people with Greek documents.
As a result, long queues are forming at Kapshtica and waiting remains a problem for travelers crossing this border point.
