The residents of Rrjoll have once again come out to protest against the construction of a resort on their lands by the company "Gener 2", claiming that their properties are being taken unfairly. For about six weeks, they have been continuing the protests and demanding justice, while earlier they also protested before the Special Prosecutor's Office (SPAK), which they are asking to consider the case.
During the recent protest, there was no shortage of tensions and clashes with police forces. Some of the protesters accused the officers of using violence, while some residents accompanied them to the police.
"You criminals, you crime police. Thieves. Are you ashamed or not?" some of the protesters are heard saying as they clash with the police.
Despite the current situation, residents are determined to continue their protests every day until the construction work for the resort, which they say is damaging the property and environment of the area, is stopped.
One of the residents stated that several young people who participated in the protest were raped inside the police van. She demanded that the matter be taken into account by SPAK, while also accusing the Shkodra Prosecutor's Office of not acting on the residents' complaints.
According to her, the residents are defending their properties and demanding that state institutions intervene to investigate the allegations of document forgery and to provide justice. She warned that the residents will continue the protest until the issue is resolved and the lands that, according to them, belong to the residents of Rrjoll are returned.
"The blue uniforms have been unjust, they have caught the boys and put them in a van and raped them. There is no right to rape them. They have thrown them away like a piggy bank. We will continue the protest until the end. This land must be returned to the Rrjollors. Not one of the people who thinks they can take this land should sleep peacefully because they will not enjoy it. We hope that SPAK will take the case in hand, that the Shkodra Prosecutor's Office will not sleep on our file, but will provide justice. The forgeries are in the office, we are protecting our property, we are being mistreated on their property. The police and the state must come out for the citizens. The Shkodra Prosecutor's Office should investigate the file as soon as possible, do not let things get worse in this country. We have been attacked by the police and Fatmir Shpellza's people. The Shkodra Prosecutor's Office will be the first responsible institution if the slightest thing happens in Rrjoll.", he said her.
