The well-known lawyer, Romeo Kara, has commented on the latest political developments. In an interview for "SOT" newspaper, he says that former Prime Minister Sali Berisha will be charged tomorrow by SPAK with 3 criminal offenses. On the other hand, Mr. Kara has released sensational behind-the-scenes from the "CEZ-DIA" file. Thanks to him, SPAK reopened the affair that was closed by the old justice system. For his work with facts sewn up and served ready for the special prosecutors, the lawyer says that he has also received pressure from people within the Socialist Party. This case, according to him, shows that the old political class is together to protect each other after they have eaten and continue to eat all in one pan.
-Berisha is going to SPAK on Wednesday for the 'Partizani' file, he will be familiar with the charges together with Malltez, what do they risk in your opinion? Do you think that all this long investigation by the prosecutors has led to the sewing of evidence to convict Sali Berisha and Malltez?
I think that the evidence is there, the cause-and-effect links are there, the abuse of duty was committed by Sali Berisha and I believe that the property investigation has also concluded that they have committed the criminal offense for which SPAK has strong doubts and which the Court has imposed a security measure for both. I think that there has been a measure since the Court gave the decision on their state of arrest, it has been beyond doubt for them that they have committed a crime. They have given this measure to Berisha and especially to his son-in-law, thinking that they may commit another crime and to prevent the cleaning of criminal products to some extent and as such the evidence may be damaged. Continuing further and not reacting the Court even when the parties requested to change the measure of arrest, shows that the Court and SPAK have not changed their minds. So they did not give a reason for which the measure was taken. So, throughout this time they have been convinced that these persons have committed this criminal offense of corruption, abuse of office and money laundering, for 3 criminal offenses for which they are accused.
- Do you think that tomorrow Berisha will appear himself with his son-in-law, Mr. Malltezin in SPAK or will he justify himself again for the new justice and as such will be represented by his lawyers, dragging out the case?
If he will be called as a person to be questioned, he must definitely appear at SPAK. But if it is just another session, he can be represented by his lawyers. This issue needs to be looked into. When he is called as a person, he should go as a person, but I am clear that they have not called this case either, and I can bring his lawyers this time as well.
- In the upcoming elections, seen from the perspective of the importance of the democratic process on Albania. There has been talk about many, many files, which in SPAK's goals, have been seen as an opportunity to clean up politics. Until the next election, do you believe there will be sensational court proceedings that could produce a more dignified parliament tomorrow?
Edmond Burger says that without justice there can be neither freedom nor democracy. Even if we created some kind of freedom. If we go to the next elections with this establishment as it is, it is certain that the SP will be in power, the DP does not like Berisha as there is a clan dependent on Berisha and this it was also seen from the lists that have been established by him, even though he is not de jure president, he de facto controls those old lists. He knows that he does not need power, but he will take a group of deputies and simply control the stability in Albania and be a de-stabilizing factor and pay for his attitude, which he needs, whether in months or in a few years.
On the other hand, the SP, on the other hand, will be repeating itself, that the essence has not changed, only some people have changed who are not important in decision-making and do not represent anything special. Until now it has been precipitated that all the power goes to the mayors, we will have a repetition of this picture that we have had to some extent with improvements that I do not believe will be essential. The third factor will be the justice factor. SPAK is a shocking factor. All parties have made a bridge, being in relation to the near future of SPAK, so whoever has problems with it, should not be hit by the opponent either with political blows or with accusations of corruption. This is the main card. SPAK is late, until now war has been declared against corruption for the last 6 years, the whole establishment should have put their shoulders behind the wall.
They have not heard that SPAK is on its knees, and the people too, that if they are taken away, these politicians are weaker than imagination. These don't have horns, we just haven't bothered to deal with them. And SPAK itself, as a structure, has not divided its mind to face it as it should, but is in a kind of total subjugation and inferiority with politics. If SPAK will make the right moves, these parties will not go so proudly to the elections. Second, the political establishment will pour water but even if we go to these elections, the problems will not be solved but will go to temporary elections that will produce future elections for a short time. They must go towards solutions or the Albanians will admit that they are bankrupt as a people and do not deserve this country, where a large part has fled and a considerable part will flee from this country.
Nuk shkohet me karta të tjera politike. Ku ka korrupsion dhe ku ka padrejtësi, ka gjithmonë varfëri e mungesë të drejtave të njeriut. Si do të zgjidhen problemet e shqiptarëve që nga strehimi, nga minimumi jetik, rishpërndarja e pasurisë, etj. Unë duhet të isha për një për një alternativë të re e cila dhe do të fuqizonte shtetin dhe nga ana e të bërit shpronësimet nga krahu tjetër. Do të zhvishnim oligarkët dhe politikanët nga ana tjetër, nga miliardat që kanë vjedhur e të fuqizonim ekonominë e shtetit të cilën këto e grabitën me pa të drejtë. Dhe ne të fuqizonim pjesën e biznesit të vogël dhe të biznesit të mesëm.
Sa i përket Ilir Metës, u fol për shumë dosje, mediat folën për arrestim brenda javës e muajit por asgjë nuk ndodhi. Çfarë do të ndodh me të dy se mbeten njerëzit më të rëndësishëm të asaj pjese të opozitës që përfaqësojnë?
Në lidhje me raportin Meta-Berisha se pse nuk janë arrestuar deri tani, SPAK-u është i vonuar. Duhet të kishte mbaruar punë deri tani me këto të dy persona. Zgjedhjet e 2025, është turpi i yni por edhe i drejtësisë që na gjejnë me këto persona por edhe i drejtësisë. Këto po mbajnë peng alternativën e opozitës në Shqipëri dhe mënyrën si e votuan dhe ranë dakord për kodin zgjedhor, tregon që këto janë pengmarrësit më të mëdhenj, si të opozitës dhe të gjithë situatës politike në Shqipëri. Nuk mendoj se Berisha me Metën, duke i bërë presion SPAK-ut, do të realizojnë gjë si zgjidhje. Iu them amerikanëve, zbatojeni urdhrin ekzekutiv të Biden-it që ju mund ta luftoni direkt korrupsionin në vendin e origjinës. Amerika duhet të ekzekutojë urdhrat dhe t’i arrestojë direkte pasi ndryshe do të jemi drejtë mbijetesës. O duhet të bëhet kjo punë me ligj ose do falimentojmë ose shqiptarët çoji në revolucion, rrugë tjetër nuk ka.
-A e shihni kritik bashkëpunimin që mund të ketë ndodhur si amnistia penale, rasti i kodit zgjedhor si dhe ardhmëria e Parlamentit?
Ato mendojnë se ne nuk i dimë, por dimë më shumë se ato. Edhe kur janë ortak në biznese të mëdha, ato bëjnë teatër absurd dhe shumë cinik me popullin dhe veten e tyre në këto momente.
-Është e vërtetë avokat, që janë ortak në biznes?

We know who they are by name, we know what power they have, we know how the money was earned and how the investments were made. We are asking those people to compete in the path of justice, but they are profiting from crime, stolen money, bad management of the administration and the state. To take the state and put it in your pocket and share it with corrupt actors and gangsters. I, who say these things, have taken them into account and I knew very well that I will face at this point that I have harassed the establishment. Who closed the CEZ-DIA case? Together they agreed to close it, one of the most pressing issues against corruption. Berisha worked for four years on that issue, he extended it from 2005-2009, when he closed it and in the Parliament where he made the most shameful privatization at that time. He worked for four years, changed the commercial code, the law on commercial enterprises, changed the statement of the ERE regulator several times, made the law on the electricity market faster, etc.
-Is it a file that you denounced?
Yes, it is closed as a file, they sold it without opening it at all. It is in the Supreme Court and the states there. It was closed without investigation. This is a body that has been closed since 2020, where it was postponed until it was postponed and then closed as a matter of course. It was not up to the Prosecutor's Office of Tirana to deal with that file, but SPAK. No one appealed, only me, since how can it be allowed that with just one drop of the pencil he gives hundreds of millions of euros and gives them there and a man who has never dealt with electricity comes out. They thought that the files disappeared, they thought that there are no more files, I created the file from scratch myself, 70 thousand pages, in OSSHE, in KEESH, in ERE, in OST, in the ministry, in the prime minister and the file was created from scratch. And they saw that the perfect folder was created, they told me as if it was there. That's why I say that they are together, why did they close that file together, even people from this government came to me now and asked me to close that case and that I closed it.
- Have they been asked by SP people to close that issue?
Yes, SP people have asked me to close that issue and to withdraw. And there was a cost for me, but now I don't want to know because I believe in the truths that I am insisting on. And this is a test of patience for me and for them. These political ghosts can only be removed with the sword of justice, because otherwise they do not remove themselves. / TODAY
