The story of the former head of the secret service: What happened when

The researcher and expert of National Security Issues, Irakli Koçollari, as a former diplomat, Koçollari, remembers the 80s when nationalist circles raised their heads in Greece, while he talks about the Law of War between our two countries.

"With the events in Kosovo, extremist circles began to revive in Greece.

At that time, a book appeared in Greek, "Two peoples are friends" (Enver Hoxha's book), which was a message to say that we are friends. He lists some historical facts there. Think that it was at the same time that there were conflicts and we were extremely tense with the former Yugoslavia. It should be known that Yugoslavia was the fifth military power in Europe. Relations with Greece had to be good and honest. All the more considering the contributions of Albanians in the history of the Greek people, especially in its independence, are unique. And these served as fact. They maintained the Law of the State of War and you are between two wars, but no country, even the greatest power in the world, could not withstand the war on two fronts. At this time, preparations began by the "Papandreu" government for the abolition of the Law of War", says Koçollari.

He underlines that this initiative of Papandreou further irritated the Greek extremist circles, while also showing the events of those years up to the burning of vehicles at our embassy there. "At that time there was an extreme anti-Albanian campaign, those districts are uncontrolled. Many of these circles can really go off the grid, but in a serious country, especially for issues that affect its security and its international relations, it should never allow them. The initiative and mindset for a friendship between the two peoples belongs to Papandreou. Ugly acts were also committed at that time. They held demonstrations in front of the embassy, burning cars, not to mention blowing up our cars that the public doesn't know about. They completely burned the car", says Koçollari.

The researcher Koçollari says that the Albanians' struggles have not been expansionary, but restrictive.
"The dough of a people's mentality is what has been conceived over the centuries. They don't do it for 20 or 30 years. In the entire history before the declaration of the Albanian state, but also before it and after it, it is surprising if we look at it, we have no author, no researcher, no Albanian politician with views and mentality of expansion against the neighbors. There is no. Others have platforms. The Serbs in the north and the Greeks in the south have elevated people who they consider to be the leaders of their countries who have made platforms for denationalization and expansion against neighboring peoples such as Albania.
If I were to mention here, the Serbs have even Nobel laureates who say: "Albanians should be slaughtered", "Albanians should be killed". Can I find a simple Albanian who says "Serbs should be exterminated"?! We don't have a platform that was created even by an individual with national hatred or territorial claims against others.

We always discuss this topic, a phrase of Çabej comes to mind when he talks about the historical territorial extent of our people and the actual state of the Albanian lands and the extent of the Albanian population today. It says: "The territory of the Albanians has not been a territory of expansion, but of restriction". Always collected and we got to where we are. I don't want to be a nationalist now, but historical truths are historical truths", he says.
