There are approximately 12 thousand lawsuits registered annually in Albanian courts for the resolution of marriages of Albanian couples.
Lawyer Aurora Marku spoke about the divorce situation in Albania. She said that in the first half of 2025, the number of divorces exceeded 7 thousand. Marku says that couples are no longer looking for ways to save their marriage.
"To be honest, the value has been increasing and the value you mentioned is from last year, we are in the middle of 2025 and the number of divorces has exceeded 7 thousand.
So it is likely that by 2025 there will be many times more requests in the courts for marriage dissolution.
"Recently, couples have been falling behind and going to court to dissolve their marriage, without exhausting all avenues to see if the marriage can be saved, without seeking a psychologist, without the family gathering to discuss and find a solution, and immediately going to court to dissolve their marriage ," Aurora Marku told "Ora Nees."
