The Director of the Institute of Statistics (INSTAT), Elsa Dhuli rejected all claims in the media that from the last census that took place at the end of last year in Albania, there are only 1.7 million resident citizens. The head of statistics stated that the data, which will be officially released in June, have not yet been processed.
"There are not 1.7 million residences, the information is incorrect. The exact number of residents in Albania has not yet been released. I have a close and professional staff that is dealing with data processing" , said Dhuli.
Dhuli admitted that there were cases when citizens refused to fill out the questionnaire, but did not confirm the fines imposed as the process is still being analyzed.
"I cannot say an exact number, we have had cases of rejections, at minimalist levels. compared to previous years, they are small since it was a big awareness campaign. In fact, we have had numerous cases where citizens asked to be part of it. Regarding the fines, we have to analyze the process, then we can start with further processes" , concluded Dhuli.
7,500 surveyors were in the field.
