Doctor Alimehmeti: There can't be free healthcare, doctors are paid by Albanians' taxes

Doctor Ilir Alimehmeti said that free healthcare does not exist in our country.

Invited to the show "Good Morning Albanians" on Euronews Albania, Alimehmeti emphasized that when we want to receive medical services, we pay directly from our pockets, while on the other hand we also pay from our taxes that go to the state budget.

Among other things, he added that free medicine will not even exist.

"It is a very high figure that we pay. Free healthcare does not exist. It is in one's dreams, but we pay directly out of pocket when we need a medical service. And on the other hand, other lek are paid from the state budget, from our taxes. There is no such thing as free healthcare. There are services and goods that we have to pay for," Alimehmeti said.
