The leader of the Democratic Party, Sali Berisha, went to SPAK this morning in compliance with the security measure of mandatory appearance.
The trial of the "Partizani" case will take place on September 18 and includes charges of corruption and money laundering against Berisha, his son-in-law and three other people.
Berisha is accused of having taken concrete actions during his time as prime minister to approve laws and bylaws that benefited his son-in-law, Jamarbër Malltezi, in the construction of palaces on the site of the former Partizani sports complex.
Malltezi himself faces corruption and money laundering charges. According to SPAK, he illegally benefited from around 5.4 million euros through a construction project, benefits related to decisions taken by the government led at the time by his father-in-law.
