After all, Albania is a big and happy island. Billionaires build resorts there, those with money invest, tourists spend their holidays, countries bring in immigrants, traffickers recycle and celebrate new projects. And it is precisely on an island that I want to close this book.
We are in the Netherlands Antilles, where in January 2019, according to the Italian Antimafia, a meeting was reportedly held between businessmen, drug traffickers, and representatives of Edi Rama's government.
Yes, that's right. For the first time, I reveal the details and protagonists of a sensational meeting. The summit was documented by Italian investigators and took place in the presence of "unclear representatives of the Albanian government in office." That's what the investigators write in court documents.
Setting: the Caribbean island of Aruba.
There was a business and crime lord, a Prato-based entrepreneur to whom local newspapers have dedicated several articles, a drug trafficker and other members of the group, all Albanians. A kanë takuar Rama ose njerëzit e tij, Shehun? Ia kemi kërkuar kryeministrit, por nuk ka pranuar të përgjigjet.

Një perandori që lidh Italinë dhe Shqipërinë: ndihma e ndërsjellë, projekte të përbashkëta. Biznesi i së ardhmes, dy dekada më parë: lojërat, bastet, kazinoja. Dhe ajo kazino-restorant është ende aty, në një pallat të madh, por kati i parë është i mbyllur; gelateria është ende e hapur dhe ka pronë tjetër. Emri i tij shfaqet edhe në disa reportazhe për një dhuratë të vjetër toke (në Itali është përmendur nga Tg3).

A mystery that starts in Aruba and ends in Tuscany, where Shehu's people manage the investments. With loans and borrowings made in the homeland, the system allows the one who implements it to have cash for any legal investment, without exposing himself to the controls of the financial authorities.
