Analysts Andi Bushati and Neritan Sejamini debated the opposition's approach to the regime installed by Edi Rama.
Invited to the show "The Unexposed", Neritan Sejamini said that only Edi Rama cannot be blamed and that his associates who have benefited from his political power, receiving economic benefits, should not be affected.
According to him, the opposition wants to surgically remove only Edi Rama and leave the whole system that is equally guilty and co-author of this regime.
Excerpts from the debate:
Sejamini: Let's agree that there is a regime that must be overthrown, the regime of Edi Rama.
Bushati: Let's agree, do we have a regime or not?
Sejamini: Wait. We have. Assume for a moment that all media in Albania are objective, have nothing to do with the government, are criticizing, investigating and holding the government accountable, as is the duty of the media. If we had civil society that shows the problems, if we also had businessmen who would not become one with the government, would Edi Rama be overthrown from power?
Bushati: Definitely yes.
Sejamini: Right. Then to stay in power he would have to use violence with weapons, he would put us in prison, journalists in prison, businessmen, civil society. Today we have that the one who is the head of the regime has an exchange relationship in exchange for political support, his stay in power, offers economic and other favors to a certain elite.
Bushati: There is a relationship of fear that which oligarch does not follow the cart, here you have the example of Irfan, who the media does not follow, here you have the example of Beket, this is the regime.
Sejamini: Even to come to the example of Irfan, it is the second stage when he attacked him, because in the first stage it was Irfan who served him. This one says: elite, you will have all the economic benefits if you are with me. You are running away from me, I will punish you. The opposition wants to surgically remove only Edi Rama and leave the whole system that is equally guilty and co-author of this regime. I don't see the opposition waging a frontal war against businessmen, robbing public property and accusing Rama himself of being a thief. But the businessman who shares the money with Rama is not a thief. We have media.
Bushati: I agree with you 100 percent, but if you look at the public debate in Albania, what you say is not happening, so the fact that we are facing an autocrat and an oligarch is not accepted. Half of us are told that we have the problem that we have an old, bad Sali, that things could be changed here.
