5 officers of the police of Fier have been suspended from duty on charges of forgery and misuse of duty.
The Court of Fier, following the request of the Prosecutor's Office, has granted personal security measures to the persons under investigation EM, DV, EB, V.Th and FH
It is suspected that these citizens, in the capacity of police officers of the Interurban and Urban Traffic Section in the Fier Local Police Directorate, have committed actions contrary to the law, related to the practices of administrative offenses committed by various citizens, adapting them according to the requirements of offenders.
The Prosecutor's Office at the Court of First Instance of Fier General Jurisdiction has registered criminal proceedings no. 363/2023, for the criminal offenses "Abuse of duty" and "Passive corruption of persons exercising public functions", provided by articles 248 and 259 pg. 1 of the Criminal Code. This proceeding was registered on the basis of the reference information of the Police Surveillance Agency, Fier-Berat Regional Directorate.
After conducting the investigative actions related to the nature of this proceeding, the Prosecutor's Office at the Court of First Instance of Fier General Jurisdiction requested the court to take personal security measures against the persons under investigation EM, DV, EB, V.Th and FH, because there is a reasonable suspicion that these citizens, in the capacity of police officers of the Interurban and Urban Traffic Section in the Local Police Directorate of Fier, have committed actions contrary to the law, related to the practices of administrative offenses that were carried out by different citizens, adapting them according to the requirements of the offenders.
On the part of the Court of First Instance of the General Judiciary of Fier, with the decision no. 62-2024-1035, dated 31.01.2024, it was decided to accept the request of the prosecution and to set the security measures for the citizens on duty as police officers as below:
The assignment to the EH citizen of the personal insurance measure "Prohibition of exiting the country" and "Suspension of the exercise of a duty or public service", provided by article 233 and 242 of the Code of Criminal Procedure. Suspect of committing the criminal offense "Abuse of duty", provided for by Article 248 of the Criminal Code.
The assignment to the DV citizen of the personal insurance measure "Prohibition of exiting the country" and "Suspension of the exercise of a duty or public service", provided by article 233 and 242 of the Code of Criminal Procedure. Suspect of committing the criminal offense "Abuse of duty", provided for by Article 248 of the Criminal Code.
The assignment to the EB citizen of the personal insurance measure "Prohibition of exiting the country" and "Suspension of the exercise of a duty or public service", provided by article 233 and 242 of the Code of Criminal Procedure. Suspect of committing the criminal offense "Abuse of duty", provided for by Article 248 of the Criminal Code.
The assignment to the citizen V.Th of the personal insurance measure "Prohibition of exiting the country" and "Suspension of the exercise of a duty or public service", provided by article 233 and 242 of the Code of Criminal Procedure. Suspect of committing the criminal offense "Abuse of duty", provided for by Article 248 of the Criminal Code.
The assignment to the FH citizen of the personal insurance measure "Prohibition of exiting the country" and "Suspension of the exercise of a duty or public service", provided by article 233 and 242 of the Code of Criminal Procedure. Suspect of committing the criminal offense "Abuse of duty", provided for by Article 248 of the Criminal Code.
In relation to this proceeding, the Prosecution at the Court of First Instance of the Fier General Jurisdiction is continuing dynamic investigations into the involvement of other persons in this illegal activity.
The Fier Prosecutor's Office remains fully focused on the fight against criminal offenses related to the duties of public officials who abuse their duties ," the announcement states.
