INSTAT has reacted regarding the cyber attack that happened today by Iranian hackers.
In response, it is reported that the Census data were not affected and that intensive work is being done to minimize the possible damage from the attack.
INSTAT emphasizes that it is cooperating closely with the competent authorities to investigate and identify the source and motives of the cyber attack and also to restore the normal operation of its IT systems and strengthen cyber security measures.
"INSTAT informs the public that on January 31, 2024, its computer systems were the subject of a sophisticated cyber attack. INSTAT has reacted quickly and professionally to prevent and minimize possible damage from the attack. INSTAT has immediately cut off the connections of internet and has activated emergency protocols to ensure the protection of data and statistical information.
Currently, from the first examinations carried out by IT experts, some of INSTAT's systems have been affected by the attack. INSTAT's immediate response includes the assistance of national cyber security experts, who are pooling their resources to conduct a detailed investigation into this attack. Key objectives include determining the root causes of the attack,
assessing the extent of the damage, and designing effective solutions to mitigate future risks.
INSTAT assures the public that the Census data are not subject to this attack as they are stored in other systems dedicated only for this purpose.
