From North to South, Albania has been under the threat of fires for days that have scorched hundreds of hectares, burned dozens of homes and endangered the lives of surrounding citizens. Helped by the high temperatures of recent days, which exceed 40 degrees Celsius, the fires in the country have reached frightening proportions, especially in places where they are favored by the wind.
Intervention in some places has been lacking for several hours, some other fires the Fire Department has not been able to reach due to the terrain and aerial intervention was required.
And as the country burns and the Fire Department works with primitive tools to extinguish the flames, our leaders, from the air conditioning in the office, car, or elsewhere, are not spared from posting on social media, starting from TNT, to tourism, to the demolition of bars and car washes, but not a word about the fire situation.
The outbreaks that still remain active:
-In the Blue Eye area in Saranda , fires have forced the evacuation of visitors and the closure of traffic on the Muzinë-Saranda axis, as giant flames have descended to the road.
- In the "Rëzom" protected area above the Skërfica tunnel , which connects Saranda with Gjirokastra, a fire is making intervention difficult due to the rugged terrain. In Finiq, fires are moving from one village to another.
- Several houses have burned in Lower Leshnica , while the flames have engulfed the village of Krane in the Mesopotam administrative unit.
-In the village of Krongj in Finiqi , a fire has reactivated, forcing the evacuation of residents.
-In Bolena, Himara , operational forces, supported by 20 members of the Armed Forces, are working to extinguish the flames.
-In Lukovë, Himara , the fire has engulfed an area of bushes and thorns, where the fire brigades of Himara and Saranda are operating with 3 firefighting vehicles and 11 firefighter personnel, supported by a Croatian Canadair aircraft and a firefighting vehicle with 3 firefighter personnel from the fire brigade.
-In Konispol, a fire between the villages of Janjar and Ninat threatens a farm with 350 small livestock and two areas planted with olive and walnut trees. Aggressive fires in other areas
-In Poliçan , the fire has reached large proportions in the mountain and is considered the largest fire ever recorded in this area. Outside the territory of the Mechanical Plant, the flames have passed over the water supply, endangering homes and the Elderly Home in the city. Residents have been evacuated, while firefighting forces are operating on the ground.
-In Gramsh , an aggressive fire outbreak over the village of Sojnik has spread to Snosëm, endangering homes.
-In Mukaj, Gramsh , the wind has worsened the situation, but operational forces, supported by 8 officers and 12 municipal forces, are working to extinguish the flames.
-At the Cerrik plant, the fire has been isolated and work is underway to completely extinguish it.
-In Fushë-Arrëz, the village of Xath has been engulfed by a large fire that is endangering many homes.
-In Malaj i Epërm, the "Vjollcë" neighborhood in Rrëshen i Mirdita, the fire in the pine, oak and shrub forest has been isolated and kept under control, but operational forces continue monitoring.
-On the Allushi Mountain near the village of Plani Bardhë in Klos, the fire is under control and is being monitored by 6 officers.
-In Tirana, on Mount Bërzhitës in the village of Ibë , the fire has engulfed 5 hectares of bushes and thorns, and operational forces are working to extinguish it.
-In Rrogozhina, fires in the villages of Ballaj and Zhabjak endangered homes, but after the intervention of operational forces, supported by an Armed Forces helicopter and 50 officers, the fire was brought under control, saving over 50 homes.
-In Peqinaj, Synej i Kavajës , 10 hectares have burned, and the intervention is continuing with the support of a Croatian Canadair aircraft.
-On the Kruja mountain, above the cement factory, the fire in the pine forest has been isolated and its intensity has decreased, but is being monitored.
-In Turan, Tepelena, the fire source has been isolated, but is being closely monitored.
