A fire that was brought under control during the night has been reactivated again this afternoon in the town of Poliçan, endangering dozens of homes in the village of Prokëçat. Strong winds and high temperatures have favored the rapid spread of the flames, which are spreading in difficult terrain covered with dense vegetation, trees and bushes.
During the night, the firefighting forces of Poliçan, Skrapar and Berat, supported by the Armed Forces and a helicopter that intervened from the air, participated in the action to neutralize the flames. However, despite the efforts, the flames have returned with greater intensity and currently pose a direct threat to residents and their properties.
Meanwhile, the fire has also caused damage to the area's digital infrastructure. Users are reporting internet outages throughout the city of Poliçan, due to network damage in an area where the connection infrastructure passes.
According to information, due to the flames getting out of control, an Air Canada plane arrived a few minutes ago to extinguish the fire.
