Journalist Elton Qyno has raised concerns about the quality of the investigations of the Special Prosecution Office (SPAK), emphasizing that some of the sensational files present serious shortcomings.
He stated that in some cases there is a lack of solid evidence, witnesses, and there are problems with financial expertise acts.
"Many SPAK files crackle in many directions. In evidence, witnesses, financial expertise acts," said Qyno.
According to him, these problems are becoming particularly evident in the trial phase, where the prosecution's arguments confront those of the defense.
"Up until this stage, it has only been what the Prosecution has said, but the other side is also in court," he said.
The journalist mentioned some of the most well-known issues, such as those related to Erion Veliaj, Ilir Meta or the Kardhiq-Delvina tender, emphasizing that some elements of them have been contested.
"Since Mr. Meta's file, the issue of the financial act has been contested," Qyno declared.
He also raised concerns about the prosecution's handling of evidence.
"SPAK takes you to court and gives you very little material... when you come to court, you present the court with about 100 files," he said, adding that this leads to delays in the proceedings.
According to him, some trials are being postponed precisely because of the large volume of materials and the time needed for review.
"Erion Veliaj is taking this long... he doesn't have time to read 60,000 pages in a week," the journalist said.
Qyno also stated that the pace of SPAK's work has slowed down. "It seems like SPAK's work has slowed down because a large portion of trials are postponed," he concluded.
