The Ministry of Defense has provided details regarding the fire situation in our country.
It is learned that during the last 24 hours, 21 fires have been reported in several municipalities in the country, of which 5 still remain active.
The fires have spread mainly to areas with shrubs and low vegetation, causing significant damage to the environment.
Affected Municipalities
The outbreaks have been identified in the municipalities of: Dibër, Vlorë, Rrogozhinë, Tirana, Kamëz, Dimal, Përmet, Këlcyrë, Gjirokastër, Librazhd, Belsh, Lezhë, Kurbin, Roskovec, Pogradec and Korçë.
So far, about 91 hectares of land have been burned, as well as 20 olive trees.
Still active outbreaks
Dibër District – “Livadhi i Peladhi”, Bulqizë
The fire has had low intensity, with no risk of spreading to forest areas. So far, about 19 hectares have been burned. 8 firefighters, 6 forest service personnel, 4 municipal forces and 4 volunteers have been engaged in the field. Today, the situation is being kept under control by 4 other operational forces.
Lura National Park – “Lake of Flowers”, Dibër
One of the most problematic hot spots, with a large longitudinal extension, which includes areas of pine trees and meadows. About 30 ha have been involved, while over 60 forces are working on the ground, including firefighters, AdZM, municipal forces, volunteers and 30 troops from the Armed Forces (AF).
Tirana District – Zambish Village, Rrogozhina
The fire in an area with oak trees has spread to several surrounding villages: Hemenraj, Murroj, Çek, Memollaj and Berdajt. About 20 ha have been involved, while several homes are at risk. 17 firefighters, 20 municipal forces, 10 volunteers and an AF helicopter have been engaged in the operation.
Elbasan Region – “Mal Plak”, Librazhd
The fire in a forest area continues to be controlled by 1 fire engine, 8 firefighters and 10 volunteers. The cause of the fire remains unknown.
Korça District – Udenisht Village, Pogradec
The fire has been reactivated in an area of pine forest and shrubs. Local forces of the Ministry of Environment and Forestry and the Albanian Fire Service are on the ground to extinguish it. A total of 459 firefighters, military and volunteer, 38 firefighting vehicles, 90 Armed Forces personnel and 3 helicopters for air support have been deployed.
According to the Institute of Geosciences, no precipitation is expected today. The risk of fires remains high in the regions of Durrës, Tirana, Fier and Vlorë, while in the other regions the risk is at a moderate level, with some localized areas of high risk, such as Shkodër (south), Kukës (southwest), Korçë (north)
The authorities call on citizens to exercise maximum caution, not to light fires in nature and to avoid any action that could risk the spread of flames. In case of fire, immediately notify the fire services. Only with everyone's cooperation and awareness can we protect the environment, property and people's lives.
