The microcredit scandal, Dumani: SPAK does not investigate the cases of citizens
Altin Dumani

A serious event happened a few days ago in front of the Special Prosecutor's Office, where Pal Trashaj committed suicide after no solution had been found to his problem with microcredits.

The head of SPAK, Altin Dumani, spoke about this during a meeting with journalists.

He said that SPAK cannot investigate personal matters of citizens, as the law does not allow it.

"We have a case under investigation, but we cannot investigate personal cases of citizens because the law does not allow us, we have defined powers. I take the opportunity to express my condolences to the family of the citizen who lost his life. I am sorry as a prosecutor, but also as a citizen, but we have clearly defined powers", said Dumani.

Pal Trashaj is one of the thousands of citizens who were extorted from the small loan scheme. The 63-year-old had a loan of 76,000 ALL, while later the debt reached 408,000 ALL.

As a result, the enforcement offices had seized his house and had frozen his bank accounts and even the salaries of his family members.

Under these conditions, he had appeared at SPAK to resolve the situation.

In May of this year, the Prosecutor's Office announced that through the creation of this fraud scheme, the company "Micro Credit Albania" in cooperation with other financial entities and enforcement offices, bought the debt in the amount of 7.3 million euros that belonged to nearly 4 thousand creditors in a bank second level and then forced them to repay it through blackmail.
