Tirana will once again host the Summer Day celebrations, one of the biggest festive activities in the capital. The Municipality of Tirana has announced that as part of the organization of the activities, there will be diversions and restrictions on vehicle traffic on several main road axes.
According to the official announcement, the traffic diversion will start at 12:00 on March 13 and will last until the early hours of March 15. Meanwhile, during this period, a series of festive activities for all age groups have been planned, which will start in the early hours of March 14 and will continue until after midnight.
The Municipality of Tirana, in cooperation with the State Police, has taken measures to limit vehicle traffic in the areas where the activities will take place, in order to guarantee the smooth running of the celebrations and create safe spaces for citizens.
Roads where traffic will be restricted
According to the published plan, traffic restrictions will be implemented on certain road segments and at certain times.
From March 13, 22:00, until March 14, 18:00, traffic will be blocked in several segments of the "Martyrs of the Nation" Boulevard, namely:
From the Ministry of Interior to the beginning of the former “Hotel Dajti”;
From the bridge of the former “Hotel Dajti” to the intersection with “Ismail Qemali” street;
From the intersection with “Ismail Qemali” street to the intersection with “Gjergj Filipi” street;
From the intersection with “Gjergj Filipi” street to the beginning of “Mother Teresa” square.
Meanwhile, from March 13, 12:00, until March 15, 02:00, traffic will be limited to:
“Dëshmorët e 4 Shkurtit” Street, from the intersection with “Ismail Qemali” Street to the intersection with “Brigada VIII” Street;
“Pjetër Bogdani” Street, from the intersection with “Sami Frashëri” Street to the intersection with “Gjin Bue Shpata” Street.
Alternative traffic routes
To guarantee the movement of vehicles, including emergency vehicles and State Police vehicles, traffic will be diverted to several alternative routes, such as:
“Lek Dukagjini”
“Abdyl Frashëri”
“Pope John Paul II”
“Sami Frashëri”
“Jean D'Ark” Boulevard
“Bajram Curri” Boulevard
“Myslym Shyri”
“Abdi Toptani”.
Changes also in urban lines
There will also be changes in the route of some urban transport lines.
Line no. 13 "Tirana e Re" and line no. 2 "TEG - Sauk i Vjetër - Zoo - Former Train Station" will divert their movement through "Willson" Square and "Zogu I" Boulevard.
Authorities call on citizens to respect the signs and instructions of the Police during these days, to avoid traffic and to enable the normal development of festive activities in the capital.
