The 46th protest of the civic revolt begins, where citizens continue to demand the removal of Prime Minister Edi Rama, the leader of the Democratic Party, Sali Berisha, as well as the entire political class.
As every day, the protesters first gathered at "Skënderbej" Square, to then start the march towards the Prime Minister's Office building. After the speeches held in front of the Prime Minister's Office, they will continue the march on some of the main streets of Tirana, repeating their calls against the political class.
During the march through the streets of Tirana, protesters chanted: "Rama go!", "Berisha go!", "Everyone go!", "Down with the political caste!" and "We want Albania like all of Europe!", demanding the removal of the political class and the return of representative democracy.
One of the activists of the civic revolt, Ilir Xhemalaj, declared that the protests will continue every day until their objective is achieved.
"We will protest every day until the resignation of the Rama government. We will not budge. The protest will continue stronger every day. People have responded massively," said Xhemalaj.
According to him, the government's reaction so far shows that the government has been put under pressure by the protests, while the changes undertaken do not constitute a solution to the citizens' demands.
"The king has come out naked. The government wants to make some adjustments, but it's makeup. We are not satisfied with makeup. We demand that the government resign and Rama leave," he declared.
In conclusion, Xhemalaj emphasized that the protest represents the voice of citizens and that their pressure has forced the government to retreat in several cases.
"Rama is not the representative of this people. That protest represents this people and the protest has forced Rama to take steps back," the activist said.
