SPAK lands in Tropoja Municipality, charges the former head of the Municipality and a builder

Zyra Islamaj, who has temporarily held the position of Mayor of Tropoja Municipality, has been indicted by the Special Prosecution Office.

Also accused is the builder Rrok Gega. It concerns the construction of a bridge in the village of Luzhe, which had personal interests of Mrs. Islamaj. Meanwhile, the tender for the construction of this bridge was won by the builder Rrok Gega.

The criminal offense charged against the two individuals in question is active and passive corruption.

Zyra Islamaj was appointed to the position of head of the Municipality of Tropoja in September 2024 after the arrest of Mayor Rexhë Byberi.

The latter is accused of the criminal offense of 'abuse of office', causing the state budget an economic damage estimated at 2.7 billion old lek.
