Sweden joins NATO, President Begaj reacts: Our alliance became stronger

The Parliament of Hungary has approved the resolution enabling Sweden to join NATO. Hungary was the only country that had blocked Sweden's membership.

The President of Albania, Bajram Begaj, has welcomed the newest state of the NATO alliance with a post on social networks.

"Welcome, Sweden, as the 32nd member state of NATO. Our alliance is now even stronger and united, strengthening our security and collective values", wrote Begaj.

Sweden and Finland in NATO means more kilometers of border with Russia protected by the Alliance.

The Secretary General of NATO, Jens Stoltenberg, welcomed the vote saying that the Alliance will now be stronger.
