"Phones are the main cause of accidents", warns the head of the Road: During 2025, we will toughen the fines

The director of the Tirana Traffic Police, Altin Qato, issued a strong warning regarding accidents.

Invited to "News 24", Qato said that using the phone while driving is one of the main causes of car accidents.

He said that next year the Traffic Police will toughen the measures for this violation.

" In 2025, we think of giving priority to cracking down on the use of the phone while driving. It is the main cause of accidents not only in our country, but also in the region. This is why we have an increase in minor accidents. There are two reaction moments, the driver's reaction is 1.5 seconds and the braking distance is 60 m per 100 km/h. And when you have a phone in your hand, the reaction of the vehicle to a situation is delayed ," said Qato.
