Air pollution and the quality of life in Tirana is one of the topics that most worries citizens living in the capital.
In an interview for the show "Te Paespozuarit", Arlind Qori, chairman of "Lëvizja Bashkë", spoke about the reasons for the massive pollution of the capital, which are constructions without criteria, traffic, etc.
Qori also brought a personal example with his daughter, who has been diagnosed with asthma and the doctor recommended her to live in a place with greenery and no pollution, but this is impossible in Tirana, while he said that the prime minister, who signs for the towers that are built in Tirana, he himself lives in the suburbs.
" This is a city without a plan, without planning. Whoever has money creates havoc, builds endlessly, creates dust, intensifies traffic. It is a city that serves very few people.
A year and a half ago I had to take my daughter to the hospital because she was feeling bad. We took him to the hospital, he stayed for about a week, they did not give a diagnosis. We were forced to pay a visit to Florence, we were told that he has asthma and needs to live in a clean environment.
I told him we live in one of the most polluted cities. As my daughter, there are many other children. Let alone the adults who are exposed to these particles.
You said that in Tirana in 2022, 2,700 people died from air pollution. Imagine a man came with a machine gun and killed you. For every building permit that is granted, we know that there is a cost to air quality. Those who give the permits do not want to know about the lives of the citizens.
