The Special Court has acquitted former Deputy Minister Klodjan Rrjepaj and businessman Ilir Rrapaj. It is reported that the decision was made with the sentence being suspended because, after calculations, their time in pre-trial detention had expired.
Both were arrested on August 17, 2023. Meanwhile, on March 4 of this year, the Special Court Against Corruption and Organized Crime (SCOC) sentenced former Deputy Minister of Health, Klodian Rrjepaj, to 6 years in prison, as part of the investigation into the sterilization concession.
Rrjepaj was found guilty of the criminal offenses of “Theft by Abuse of Office” and “Forgery.” However, due to the summary trial, his sentence was reduced to 4 years in prison.
The court also sentenced businessman Ilir Rrapaj to 6 years in prison. The summary trial was also applied to him, making the final sentence 4 years in prison.
We recall that both were investigated and tried in the context of the file known as "Sterilization", one of the most important issues handled by SPAK regarding concessions in the health sector.
