FNSH officer, Nikol Lekndreaj, lost his life in the early hours of this morning, after suffering a motorcycle accident as a result of bad weather.
He was traveling by motorbike to his apartment around 02:00 in the village of Bardhaj, when he lost control of the vehicle and fell into the canal.
According to the police, the officer was swept away by the flow of water and as a result lost his life. His body was found after several hours of searching during the control of the channel leading to the river Kir.
However, residents say that at the time the accident occurred, the water level was about 1 meter above the asphalt. They told the media that "the problem is not the rain, but the canals", adding that they are left uncleaned and as a result floods are caused.
"The weather has been very bad, but for us the problem is not the rain, but the canals. They are unclean, it is the state's problem. The water level was 70 cm, the plight of this one who drowned in the water.
I don't know how it happened, we knew him, he was a very good person. We don't have a municipality or a town, nobody cares. Just to get money for themselves", said a resident.
While another said: " The water has passed about 1 meter above the asphalt. The policeman was coming on a motorcycle, fell into the canal and died. They have left the road unclean."
