1. 'Veliaj' file
: GJKKO decides today on the fate of the mayor
Today, the Special Court will hold a preliminary hearing against Tirana Mayor Erion Veliaj, his wife Ajola Xoxa and other suspects in the case.
The reason for the postponement of the previous hearing was the absence of Veliaj, who was not accompanied from the detention center in Durrës to the Special Court, as well as the absence of several legal defenders.
The trial panel will decide whether or not the case will go to trial. Earlier, the Special Court rejected Erion Veliaj's requests to be given access to the file in prison, as well as to remain outside the glass cage during court hearings.
SPAK has listed 13 charges against Veliaj, such as passive corruption, money laundering, failure to declare assets, abuse of office and bringing items into prison.
The majority of the charges are of passive corruption committed in 9 cases, in relation to several companies for which SPAK says he received irregular benefits in the form of monetary sums and real estate, which in turn received construction permits and public funds from the Municipality of Tirana.
His wife, Ajola Xoxa, is also accused by SPAK of passive corruption in 9 cases related to commercial entities and non-profit organizations, the same as Erion Veliaj.
Xoxa is also accused of money laundering, failure to declare assets and concealment of income.
2. The Assembly begins the parliamentary session
Two reforms await negotiations between the SP-PD
The Assembly begins the new parliamentary session today. Initially, the Conference of Speakers will hold a meeting at 11:00, where the draft work program of the Assembly for the period January 19, 2026 - February 27, 2026 will be reviewed.
The Conference of Speakers will also review the draft calendar of the Assembly's work for the period January 19, 2026 - February 6, 2026.
Then, the Committee on Civic Initiatives will hold its first meeting for 2026. At this meeting, the work plan for the request from the High Judicial Council for security in the courts and the request from the Financial Intelligence Agency will be approved.
The first session for 2026 will be held at 5:00 p.m.

Ky proces nuk ndodh rastësisht dhe nuk lidhet me vështirësi teknike, por me vendime konkrete ekonomike të marra nga fabrika të njohura në treg si Lufra, Erzeni, Fast, Gjirofarm, Zepa Natyral dhe subjekte të tjera të përpunimit të qumështit, të cilat marrin qumështin e freskët nga fermerët, nxjerrin yndyrën natyrale përmes skremimit teknik, përdorin ajkën për prodhimin e gjalpit që shitet veçmas me çmim më të lartë, dhe në produktet që shkojnë për konsum masiv shtojnë vaj palme për të rikrijuar artificialisht përmbajtjen e yndyrës dhe qumësht pluhur për të rritur volumin.
5. Italian media investigation
Call center in Tirana generated 25–30 million euros/month
An exclusive investigation by the Italian show “Le Iene” revealed the existence of a well-organized financial fraud network operating from Tirana, targeting citizens in several European countries, and consequently the intervention of SPAK.
The call center located in one of the most modern towers of the capital is suspected of generating up to 30 million euros per month, while serious doubts are raised that the money obtained is used to launder money from other criminal activities.
In the heart of Tirana, in the modern 4Ever Green Tower, a call center with about 100 operators and financial consultants was organized as a machine to deceive and rob customers.
The investigation conducted by Italian journalist Luigi Pelazza for the show “Le Iene” shows that it functions as a well-organized financial fraud network with international reach.
The call center targets clients in Italy, France, Germany and Spain, making Tirana a key operational base from which fraudulent phone calls, manipulated financial platforms and international teams of operators are coordinated. The investigation was made possible thanks to the infiltration of a person with three years of experience in this field, who had previously worked in Cyprus and managed to document the way the network operates.
