US warning of attacks from Iran
Rama's ministers deny it: There is no room for panic
Rama's cabinet ministers have reacted unanimously to the announcement from the American Embassy in Albania, which called on its citizens who are in our country to show increased caution and avoid overcrowded or tourist areas as groups linked to Iran may attack common places, such as tourist sites, shopping malls, hotels, clubs and restaurants.
Meanwhile, the Democratic Party has raised concerns in Parliament following the US Embassy's warning of possible attacks by Iran on Albania and has requested a meeting of the Security Council.
Minister of Defense, Ermal Nufi, said that there is no room for panic and Albanian citizens should be calm, as according to him they are safe.
Interior Minister Besfort Lamallari also said that there have been direct communications between dedicated police structures and the US embassy and there is no real danger. He said that Albania has taken increased security measures in relation to international developments.
Even the Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs, Ferit Hoxha, stated that there is no reason to be alarmed, despite the warning from the American Embassy.
Why have negotiations slowed down?
Foreign Minister: It takes two to tango, but we need three
Prime Minister Edi Rama said today during a conversation with young students that Albania is, for the first time in history, at a moment where luck is smiling on Albanians, regarding EU integration.
The head of government emphasized that we are not in a situation where there is a slowdown in the process of Albania's integration into the EU.
One of the students present at the conversation asked what are the 3 obstacles that are slowing down the process of entering the EU.
The response was given by Foreign Minister Ferit Hoxha, who said that the process includes 3 actors and that the process has not slowed down, but is at the right pace.
"Usually, a tango is done with 2. This tango of ours requires 3. We are the ones who do our homework, who are trustworthy, and the second is the European Commission. We work with them from morning to night. It is the Commission that is mandated by the 27 member states to convince itself to act as our advocate to the member states. Albania must convince the member states that we take responsibility to act. Absolutely nothing has slowed down. We are at the pace that we have determined together with the European Commission. It is the best advocate we have had. We are at the moment when we have to take the most important exam in the history of Albania," said Hoxha.
