The protest held this Tuesday in the Baks-Rrjoll area, in Velipojë, was accompanied by tensions and clashes between residents and police forces, following a decision by the Court of Appeal in Tirana regarding land ownership.
According to information, the Appeal Court has recognized the Malaj family as the legal owners of the land in question. The decision has brought a reaction from the residents of the area, who claim that the area belongs to them.
After the decision was announced, a group of protesters attempted to enter their land, but were met with a police cordon that prevented them from entering. The situation became tense, with work equipment also on the ground.
" We are on our land, we will block the roads because our land has been taken, we will die here," said the protesters, who later managed to temporarily stop the works.
