Suicide of 15-year-old in Gjirokastra, prosecution rejects bullying theory:

The Prosecutor's Office at the First Instance Court of General Jurisdiction in Gjirokastra has issued an official statement regarding the serious incident that occurred yesterday, where a 15-year-old boy was found hanging near his apartment in the village of Valare.

From the investigations conducted, from the examination of the victim's phone and the questioning of persons who are aware of the circumstances of the incident, it did not result that bullying was the cause that pushed the minor towards the extreme act.

"From all the investigative actions carried out up to this stage of the investigation, no data or evidence has been found to prove that the action committed by the minor was caused by harassment or bullying behavior by his peers ," the Prosecutor's Office announced. 

The prosecution, meanwhile, states that it is still continuing its investigations to fully clarify the incident and the actions taken by the responsible authorities regarding the handling of the minor's case.

In relation to the event of 20.04.2025, where in the outdoor premises of his apartment in the village of Valarë, Gjirokastër, the minor citizen VP, 15 years old, was found hanging and without signs of life, following the notification made by the Gjirokastër Police Commissariat, the Prosecutor's Office at the First Instance Court of General Jurisdiction of Gjirokastër, in the presence of the prosecutor of the juvenile section and the available prosecutor, by order of the Head of the Prosecutor's Office, immediately created an investigative group to handle the case.

Under the direction of the Prosecutor's Office, the first investigative actions have been carried out, which include examining the scene of the incident, conducting a forensic examination, seizing and examining telephones and computer equipment, seizing the minor's school materials, and taking statements from persons who have knowledge of the circumstances of the incident, including the employee responsible for the treatment of the minor.

From all the investigative actions carried out up to this stage of the investigation, no data or evidence has been found to prove that the action committed by the minor was caused by harassment or bullying behavior by his peers.

The Gjirokastra Prosecutor's Office is continuing with special priority the investigations to fully clarify the incident, as well as the actions taken by the responsible authorities regarding the handling of the case of the minor VP.
