At a time when all Albania's energy is oriented towards investments in the field of tourism, one of the projects that is receiving special attention is that of Vlora Marina, which comes as one of the most strategic in the development of elite tourism in the country.
The marina, which stands as a precious stone between two seas, the Adriatic and the Ionian, is predicted to be one of the largest in the Balkan region, becoming a competitive project in a much wider market than the Albanian market. . Vlora Marina was conceived to offer not only services of an indisputable quality, but also to bring a new approach to hospitality, a sector still unconsolidated with the appropriate standards in Albania.
The growing number of cruises that stop at the shores of Albania, the addition of direct flight lines such as the latest Ryanair with 18 destinations from Tirana to Europe, have led to a significant increase in foreign visitors to Albania.
The high number of tourists is a key factor that has driven the need for such elite investments capable of offering Premium services.
This new and ambitious development has already begun to attract attention and arouse high interest in foreign media. The Italian news agency ANSA was the last to call Vlora Marina part of the "explosion" of tourism in the Adriatic. According to the study conducted by Risposte Turismo, an Italian company specialized in tourism research and consultancy, Albania has had the largest increase in the Adriatic basin, with 53.9% passengers more than a year ago, with a larger increase and before Montenegro, Greece, or Italy.
According to the study, the cruise industry and in particular the ferry segment will be the sectors that will benefit the most from new investments in the next three years.
While from the official figures in the country, in the first 4 months of 2023, 8% more passengers from cruises were registered compared to the same period last year.
The quality employment and economic development that this project will generate are expected to turn Vlora and Albania into one of the most competitive countries in the elite tourism industry, in the Balkan region and further in the entire Mediterranean basin.
At a time when the construction of this transformative superproject has begun, the first predictions are that the economy of Vlora will benefit about 4.3 million euros per year from the income when it is fully operational.
