The residents of Vlora have not received any concrete answer as to when their drinking water problem will be resolved. This has led them to protest this Sunday, demanding a concrete solution.
Initially, the residents interrupted the performance that was being given at the “Petro Marko” theater. The citizens gathered right there, while the municipality was holding a year-end party for its employees.
They held banners and chanted "We want water," while the situation became tense when some of them clashed with the police guarding the theater premises. Meanwhile, the deputy director of the state police in Vlora, Shpëtim Hasanaliaj, called on the protesters to immediately vacate the hall where the end-of-year party was being held.
Citizens have also warned that they will not give up, as they are facing this worrying situation on the eve of the holidays. They have announced that they will protest in front of the City Hall tomorrow at 10:00.
