The murder of Egli Proga in Pogradec, Karamuço: the prosecution made a

Criminalistics expert Ervin Karamuço has spoken about the murder of Eglantin Proga in Pogradec.

The loss of Egli's life is being investigated as manslaughter, a criminal offense reclassified by the Prosecution during the security measure, but according to the jurors, this was a hasty step.

"The prosecution made a serious mistake by requalifying the offense referred by the police. He should have seen the entire file and the evidence and in the course of the investigative actions with a witness and he could then have requalified the offense. Why did he do this? This will be investigated. The case is being investigated by the standards directorate, the People's Advocate, ILD, civil society and the media are working in parallel to uncover the truth," said Karamuço.

According to the lawyer Jordan Daci, the prosecution is obliged to deepen the investigation.

"The very fact that the investigation continues despite someone saying that there is nothing more can come out. The Prosecution is obliged to carry out other actions and only after all the investigative actions are finished and when it is convinced that the true variant that it thinks is has discovered, he decides the end of the investigation, the taking of the defendants and the imposition of charges. When someone is detained or arrested, a charge is given for which the person is a suspect. I see the haste to come to conclusions as wrong ," said lawyer Jordan Daci.

They state that the proceedings for abuse of duty of the general patrol inspector do not stand as it is not in his functional duties to find the cause of death or to carry out investigations.

"In the standard procedures of the scene of the incident, a patrol policeman has no right except to surround, gather witnesses and notify the operating room, he has no right and authority to do anything else. Experts, ambulances are called and all are directed by the Prosecutor. You tell the citizens to leave because I don't know you, it's a momentary thought. I've seen this behavior from the police when you give them valuable information, but they can tell you something like that in stressful conditions when communicating with the Chief of the police station. This does not amount to malpractice. With his words, he communicates with a citizen, but does not change the course of the investigation and the truth", says Karamuço.

For the lawyer Daci, clashes with statements between the police and the prosecution are unnecessary and they should focus on delivering justice.

"I do not undertake to know the reasons why the institutions are involved in this media cacophony. The culture of communication with the public does not even exist to be transparent or they often rush to conclusions. It can be incoordination, haste, lack of professionalism. But all this noise is meaningless because the person is in prison. If there are fluctuations when the prosecution has all the evidence, then we have to worry that there is justice for the victim but also for the perpetrator. Even if he is punished, he deserves the justice that the law provides for him" , he said for "TCH".
