Analyst Mentor Kikia commented on the elections in the Municipality of Himara, where citizens are voting for the next mayor, Petro Gjikuri or Vangjel Tavo. According to Kiki, it is about a small municipality, which received more attention than it should.

"It is about a process to elect the mayor of a small municipality. Only 5,900 voters have participated. Beyond this dimension, it has received a lot of attention that it is different. The first is the echo of Himara because of the Beleri case.

The repeat of the elections after not receiving the mandate was a new test and a first debut, as PD officially returned to the political arena. After entering the last elections with the PL logo. These are political elections to see who carries more political weight in the electorate, the socialists, or the opposition that seeks to overthrow", Kikia told "Report TV".

As for the candidates, Kikia emphasizes that she would prefer a local candidate from Himara, who knows the problems of the residents and not imported from political Tirana.

"I would like the candidates for the local elections to be local residents. But political conjunctures are at the center and candidates are imported. A local resident would be more acceptable because he knows the problems. When the mayor is imported by political election, the political charge that local elections take on begins. Both candidates are imported", Kikia emphasized.

Kikia further adds that we are dealing with a quiet process so far and for her, the standard that will be set with the regular elections is more interesting than the name that will govern Himara.

"The elections in Himare took on this connotation, but more than that, the Beleri case interfered between Athens and Tirana, a rift between the two governments that culminated with Beleri's candidacy and victory in the EP. For this reason, I believe that it was a tactical solution of the parties to run for figures who come from the Greek minority, to convey the message that the incident with Beler is not related to his citizenship but to electoral crime. This is in the grand scheme of things.

As for the voting, it is a smooth process, what interests us all is setting a standard with the elections in Himara, rather than the name that will govern Himara. Will the elections be peaceful, will the result be accepted, will the voting be regular, and a series of procedures will be fixed to make the elections in Himara with a standard. We suffer from the organization of elections that take weeks to produce results. I expect to see the standard in Himare, rather than the winner", said the analyst.
