"Solution and not crisis" this is the message conveyed by Vangjel Tavo, SP candidate for the municipality of Himara, Vangjel Tavo in an interview with Greek CNN.
Vangjel Tavo, speaking to the Greek media, said that he decided to resign from the post of the Prefect of Vlora after a proposal from Prime Minister Edi Rama himself to solve the problems carried over for 35 years in the municipality of Himara.
"The problem of properties in Himara is a problem that has not been solved for 34 years," said Tavo.
Vangjel Tavo, who served as Minister of Health and Deputy Speaker of the Parliament of Albania, claims for CNN Greece that he was one of the strongest voices of the opposition against Edi Rama's policy, underlining that "for 14 years we have not understood each other politically with Edi Rama. I was one of Rama's fiercest opponents. That's why he invited me himself, because, as far as I understand, he also has his will to solve these problems so that they are no longer an obstacle to the progress of relations between the two countries".
Vangjel Tavo extends a hand of cooperation to the opposition candidate Petro Gjikuria, offering him the post of Deputy/Mayor of Himara Municipality in case of victory.
" I have a question that I want to ask from here. If Petro Gjikuria who came from America and is so interested and it is logical to help Himara loses the elections, which he will lose, will he stay here to contribute for the good of Himara? To contribute to Himara's development after his defeat? I have a proposal. I would really like him to say that he will stay here because I would offer him to come to my staff after the elections and why not come as the vice mayor of Himara Municipality. I hope he accepts and becomes the deputy mayor of Himara Municipality, I say this publicly. I am waiting for it. I'm waiting for his answer" concludes Tavo.
If elected, how do you think you will function as a bridge to prevent further aggravation of bilateral relations between Greece and Albania?
Vangjel Tavo: First of all, I'm Greek and everyone knows it. I was a Greek deputy in the Parliament of Albania all these years. I am a person with a political career in which I have tried and contributed to solving problems. I have always contributed to solving issues that previously could create problems and crises in my area, but I have never allowed it.
I have contributed to the solution in low tones because I strongly believe in cooperation. I believe that there is no problem that has no solution if there is a will. This is the reason that I believe that even here in Himare we will be able to solve many problems that concern the residents in a very short period of time and that there will no longer be any problem that can create a problem in the relations between the two countries. I believe that due to good relations, the ethnic Greek minority of Albania will also benefit.
We must not continue to trouble our homeland Greece for any problem, because we elected Greeks who are here insisting that the Albanian government solve our problems, we must solve it here. What I did in Dropull I will do in Himare and I am sure that we will succeed.
The electoral law of Albania states that to be a candidate for mayor you must be a resident of that municipality. I didn't do anything other than my constitutional right, I settled in the municipality of Himare, the municipality in which I have a house. It's my house. Don't I have the right to live?
So if you are in Athens and want to live in the house you have in Ioannina, is anyone stopping you? No sense.
"I'm sure he did it to look 'Look what Tavo did. I'm taking him to SPAK.' Or to prepare the ground for defeat and then say that all this happened because Tavo and some people have transferred their electoral rights. It doesn't bother me and it doesn't bother me. That is his right to do whatever he wants. I do not consider him as a rival. I have never mentioned them anywhere in my political career.
Just as I have my program and I present it to the voters, so does Gjikuria, I don't know if there is a program, I don't care either because it says that "my program is Fred's program". . No problem, as they used to say in America, the program is Reagan's and the next one that will come will mean Reagan's program again. I don't deal with the opponent. He says he came from America because he is in pain and he is interested in Himarra. But I have a question and I want to ask it through this interview.
I have a proposal. I would really like him to say that he will stay here because I would offer him to come on my staff after the election and come and why not also as the deputy mayor of Himara, let's work together for the good of Himara.
Himara asks for cooperation. We cannot continue with tensions not only before the elections but also outside the elections. I hope he accepts and becomes the deputy mayor of Himara Municipality, I say this publicly. I am waiting for it. I await his answer". /CNN/
