The flames that have been falling on Shengjin Mountain for two days have progressed towards the tourist area of Rrana e Hedhun in Shengjin, creating a dangerous situation after midnight on July 29.
Around 00:40 (July 30, 2024) it was learned that the flames have approached the residential area, endangering local businesses.
Dozens of fire, military and civil emergency forces are on the ground trying to control and extinguish the flames. The entire area is covered by smoke, while the police have blocked the road to this tourist area to avoid danger for residents and tourists.
Ambulances with medical personnel are also on hand to provide assistance to the officers and tourists who may asphyxiate from the smoke.
The Minister of the Interior, Taulant Balla, through a post on social networks published at midnight, announced that the flames have approached the residential area and the state police has started the evacuation of residents.
"Extremely difficult situation from the fire in Shengjin! Even though fire brigades from many municipalities have moved there, the Civil Protection Agency and the Armed Forces, the large extent of the flames and the strong wind are endangering some homes. The State Police through the National Force of Security and DVP Lezhë is evacuating the residents", writes Balla in a post on Facebook where images of the fire and the evacuation of some residents are published.
