The technical manager of the external security of the 'Kurum' factory, Merkur Çipi, said that the cause of the fire at the scrap collection point was an electric spark that released a battery.
According to him, the accidental event is a disaster for the 'Kurum' factory, as he added that the intensity of the fire has increased as a result of the burning of the plastic materials that were inside the scrap.
"This incident happened accidentally from a battery that happened deep in the scrap heap. From the spark it got there, at 10:25 it gave a spark of smoke at the height of the scrap. I think this accidental event is a disaster for 'Kurum' and all of us. Currently, plastic materials, which are inside the scrap, are being burned. The smoke that is released is obviously harmful to health, but it is not intentionally man-made. It is the first time such an event has taken place. 95% of the flames in the area were brought under control, but an explosion of a gas cylinder caused an explosion that caused flames in another area of the scrap ," said Chipi.
