Journalist Genc Burimi described Edi Rama's self-offering for refugee housing as the second scandal of the day, after opposition MPs were not allowed in Parliament.
He said that this scandal starts from the moment when Prime Minister Rama signs such agreements without informing the Albanian Parliament. He says that these scandals are burying the Albanian dream towards integration into the European Union.
"We are experiencing a double assassination attempt against parliamentarism in Albania. The first attack in the morning that prevented the deputies from entering the Parliament and exercising their constitutional duty and the second attack is what we are dealing with now, that is the issue of hotspots. It's a shame a scandal. It is not a new idea. It is an idea that was launched in 2018 by Denmark and Austria. As it was thrown and buried in an instant. Those two countries at that time thought that Albania would become a hotspot. From that moment the European Union said 'I don't want to get involved because it's a hot potato'. Why? For these people to come, about 50,000 a month means that in the first place you are committing a crime against humanity. By what right will Albania take and put in isolated centers, like in prisons, people who have not done anything bad to Albania.
To deport an immigrant from your country, the host country of origin must issue a pass. Do you think that Syria, Iraq, Afghanistan issue a pass? So, Albania would find hundreds of thousands of refugees in a few months. Can you imagine the scandal or not? This will also bury the European idea of Albania because these people will then try to cross from Shkodra, from Montenegro, forests, seas.
How can you do such a signing without informing your Parliament, it is the future of Albanians, of our children, of our generations", said Burimi in an interview for "Syri TV".
