There were dramatic moments for the citizens yesterday in Lushnja, where the "Metropol" shopping center was engulfed in flames and then the fire spread to the apartments in the adjacent buildings.
For more than 10 hours, the fire brigades of Lushnja, Fier, Tirana, Elbasan, Vlora and Berat fought to put out the flames and make it possible to evacuate the citizens, where some of them ended up in the hospital.
It is learned that today no one is in the hospital. The day before, about 42 people were hospitalized after having breathing problems among them and 8 fire personnel.
Meanwhile, the area is surrounded by security tape and it is expected that expertise will be carried out to determine the causes of the fire as well as the damage caused by the flames.
Residents were also not allowed to go to their apartments to see what was left behind by the fire, which suddenly broke out in the entire building.
The Shopping Center is built in the center of the city and is located between two 12-story buildings, the upper floors of which functioned as residential apartments.
The flames were reactivated in the late hours of the night on the fourth floor where there was also a summer bar with a wooden structure as well as some administration offices. The lack of a ladder made it difficult to extinguish the fire, while firefighters poured water from the first floor to the burning fourth floor of the center. The flames consumed the third floor of the building.
