A large-scale fire engulfed the used clothing market in the "5 Maji" neighborhood in Tirana on Thursday evening, January 8, causing panic and considerable material damage.
The flames spread rapidly due to the easily flammable materials and the proximity of the shops to each other, while the immediate intervention of the firefighting forces made it possible to neutralize the fire.
According to security expert Fatjon Softa, fortunately the incident occurred at night and there were no people present in the market premises, avoiding any danger to the lives of citizens.
"Fires are difficult to fight because of the materials involved. There are no preventive measures for fires, even though the markets and shops are close to each other. The fact that the fire was able to be neutralized is thanks to the work of the fire brigade. The flames were massive, spread quickly and were visible from every corner of Tirana. Fortunately, the event occurred at night, and there were no employees, merchants or citizens in the shop premises," said Softa.
